Devotional: God’s Promises for Healing

Devotional: God’s Promises for Healing

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3

This photo was taken for a resume cover while I was pursuing a position with a global hair color company—on top of running my salon. The job required lots of travel, which sounded like an incredible opportunity. But if I’m honest, I had major hesitation in my heart. Although it was a pay upgrade, it would have kept me away from my family even more than I already was. but, I ignored it, assuming it was just nerves. Thankfully, God had other plans—I just didn’t know it yet.

“I spent years being someone I really wasn’t. At the time, I didn’t realize I was struggling with imposter syndrome, but looking back, it’s obvious. I was striving, performing, trying to be what I thought I needed to be. But once the Lord began to repurpose my life, the truth became clear: the wounds from my misaligned life needed healing. Not just external change, but deep, soul-level restoration. And that’s exactly what He does—He doesn’t just fix, He makes new.” God promises to heal.

God is a healer.

Throughout Scripture, we see His promises to restore, renew, and heal both physically and spiritually. Yet, in moments of sickness or suffering, doubt creeps in. Will He really heal me? Does He still work miracles today?

The answer is found in His Word. Isaiah 53:5 tells us, “By His wounds we are healed.” Jesus bore our sickness, sin, and suffering on the cross. Healing is part of His redemptive work. But healing isn’t always immediate or in the way we expect—it comes in God’s perfect timing and in His way.

Sometimes healing is instant, like when Jesus touched the blind and lame (Matthew 8:16-17). Other times, it’s a process, like when Naaman had to wash in the Jordan seven times (2 Kings 5:10). And sometimes, healing is spiritual—a deep work of restoration in our hearts rather than our bodies (2 Corinthians 12:9).

No matter what, we can trust this promise: “I am the Lord, who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26) If you’re waiting for healing today, don’t lose hope. Pray, believe, and rest in His faithfulness. He is Jehovah Rapha—the Lord our Healer.

Prayer:
Father, I trust in Your healing power. Whether it comes instantly, over time, or in a way I don’t expect, I know You are working all things for my good. Strengthen my faith and help me rest in Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
