Filament Bible Review + Color-Coding Tips
This year, I finally had the chance to tackle something I’ve been dreaming of for years! I’m thrilled to share this ongoing project with you—my review of the Filament Bible and my favorite color-coding tips for Bible study.
This past Christmas, my mother-in-law gifted me the Filament Bible along with a set of specialty Bible pens. It was the perfect opportunity to start something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time—organizing and color-coding my Bible for a more meaningful and efficient study experience.
For many of you, this concept might not be new. My old Bible is already filled with highlights and notes, but over time, it has become a chaotic rainbow with no rhyme or reason.
I’ve spent years studying Scripture, but I’m always looking for ways to quickly locate specific verses, especially in times of need. After listening to Peggy Joyce Ruth for a while, I’ve been inspired by her ability to recall and stand firm on so many of God’s promises. She often encourages her listeners to color-code Scripture as a way to easily find and focus on God’s truths.
For example, she shared a story about a time when she needed healing in her life. She did an in-depth study on God’s promises of healing, highlighting all the related verses in blue. By the end of her study, she said her Bible seemed to light up in blue, a powerful visual reminder of God’s desire to heal and restore.
Color-coding Scripture is not only visually appealing but also a practical tool for memorizing and quickly referencing God’s promises. Below, I’ve categorized some of God’s promises using a color-coded system to help you get started:
Color-Coded List of God’s Promises
- Blue: Promises of Healing
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
“By His stripes, we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) - Green: Promises of Provision
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1) - Yellow: God’s promises of his character
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105) - Purple: Promises of God’s strength & the supernatural
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
“And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.” (exodus 14:21-22) - Pink: Promises of God’s Love
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end.” (Lamentations 3:22) - Orange: Promises of living right
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8) - red: Promises of wisdom
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”(james 1:5) - BLACK: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
By using a system like this, you’ll not only deepen your study but also create a powerful resource that reflects God’s faithfulness in every area of life.
When you subscribe to my blog, you’ll be able to use the color-coding system every time I post a scripture verse. Highlight these verses in your Bible with a rainbow of systematic colors, making your Bible study and scripture referencing more organized and visually engaging.

Filament Review
Now, what do I think of the Filament Bible itself? So far, I like it! First, the large print is a game-changer for my aging eyes, making it so much easier to read. Second, it’s an in-depth study Bible that offers so much more than just the text.
The experience starts with downloading the Filament app. From there, you simply scan the page number of what you’re studying, and the app provides additional resources to enrich your study. These include historical context, geographical insights, and detailed commentary, all seamlessly integrated to deepen your understanding.
At this point, I find the Filament Bible to be a great study tool—one that I’ll definitely continue to use for my in-depth studies. It’s a blend of traditional and modern study methods, and I couldn’t be more excited to explore it further!
