From Entrepreneur To Creator: My Curious Journey To Faith Pt.4
Baptized By Fire
In 2018, about three years after the prophetic pastor event I mentioned in part three of From Entrepreneur to Creator: My Curious Journey to Faith, we took a family ski trip to New Mexico. What should have been a joyful getaway with our kids quickly turned into a disaster. A massive argument erupted, pulling in everyone—even the children. I was devastated, left questioning God’s plan for our marriage. I clung to what God had spoken to us, yet we were still fighting the same battles—what felt like the same demons. The chaos ultimately forced us to cut the trip short and head home early.
On the drive back, I sat in the car, pouring my heart out to God. Why did this have to happen? You told us to stay together, but how can I keep putting my children through this? And then it happened—a moment I will never forget.
It was as if an electric current surged through my body, starting at my head and moving to my toes, filling me with intense heat—like fire. In that instant, the Holy Spirit revealed something profound: His purpose for my life. Despite the supernatural nature of the experience, I doubted its authenticity. Growing up Southern Baptist, the Holy Spirit wasn’t often discussed, let alone encounters like this. Such experiences were dismissed as emotionalism—or worse, demonic deception. My mind went there too.
I prayed fervently, asking God to confirm what I had experienced. Shortly after, I began reading testimonies from others who described nearly identical encounters, often referred to as the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit. Both are technically different experiences according to scripture, however for me, I just know the Holy Spirit moved. Whether or not you believe in such supernatural events, Scripture does in fact speak about them:
Drowned With The Spirit
“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.” — Joel 2:28-29 (quoted in Acts 2:17-18)
Here’s what I know to be true: any authentic encounter with the Holy Spirit bears fruit. Since that moment in 2018, I’ve experienced an unquenchable thirst for God’s Word. What once felt chaotic and confusing now brings me peace and clarity.
The Holy Spirit began teaching me God’s truths, even before I discovered them in Scripture (1 Corinthians 2:10-13). This led me into a season of spiritual awakening, including vivid dreams and visions. It was during the pandemic that everything began to shift. My career—once a cornerstone of my identity—started to feel hollow. The drive for success that had consumed me for years no longer fulfilled me. I realized how much I had sacrificed, missing precious moments with my family and constantly thinking about work, even when I wasn’t working.
God’s Shutdown
During the shutdown, the Lord began to speak to me in deeper ways. He showed me raw and painful truths about my past decisions, but He also gave me hope for healing and restoration. I felt a strong sense that He was calling me to be repurposed.
At the same time, my husband began sensing God’s call for a career change. He returned to the financial industry, landing a position as a managing director—a move that was undeniably orchestrated by God. And then a few years later, opening up his own firm. The shutdown became a season of transformation for both of us. While the world felt heavy, God was working deeply in our hearts.
For me, it was a time to walk and talk with God, developing a more intimate friendship with Him. I realized I didn’t want to run a business anymore, nor did I want to manage people. In early 2021, we closed the shop, and I rented a small suite for my clients. Over the next two years, God began preparing me for another leap of faith.
Sometimes It’s Okay To Quit
I started dreaming vivid, strange dreams that stirred my spirit. God nudged me to pray for family members without fully understanding why. Through this, I began to see the spiritual battles my family had faced for years. I knew it was time to let God clean it up. i sensed that god wanted to to something great through My family. at that point on, my family and home became my greatest desire.
One day, I told my husband I wanted to quit my job and stay home. By this time, our son had graduated high school, but our daughter was entering her senior year. To my surprise, my husband, who had always encouraged me to pursue a career, agreed. However, he had just started his own firm a few months earlier, and we had mounting business debt. We decided I’d work one more year to help pay it off.
But a few months later, I hit a breaking point. I was mentally exhausted, unmotivated, and deeply depressed. My husband, seeing how much I was struggling, agreed it was time to trust God fully and let go.
God’s Faithfullness
Since then, the Lord has provided in ways that can only be described as miraculous. While the journey hasn’t been stress-free, God has been teaching us to trust Him completely. What once felt like a hamster wheel—constant effort with little reward—has turned into a season of provision, peace and prosperity.
Today, our mornings are slow and filled with gratitude. A life of chaos and confusion is now a distant memory, serving as a powerful reminder of Jesus’ authority over even the greatest mountains we once struggled to climb. We now have the space to breathe, to reflect, and to be present. God has shown us that His plans are always better, even when they require us to step into the unknown.
Just as God has promised, he wants to make old things new. As a natural entrepreneur, the Lord has opened a creative space where I can use my experiences to share my journey while embracing my passion for teaching and creativity. My hope and prayer is that my journey of being Repurposed as a home/body, inspires you—not only to get creative with your surroundings but also to invite our Creator to make space in your life, revealing your purpose with clarity. The deeper things of God are waiting for you to seek them. If He’s revealed them to me, He can do the same for you!
Reflection
Are you waiting for God to move? Sometimes we’re diligent about waiting on the Lord, but many times, He’s actually waiting on us to seek him. The Bible teaches that faith without works is dead, specifically telling us to seek truth in his word like kings! “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” Proverbs 25:2. Having faith to wait on the Lord is fantastic, but in the meantime, we are instructed to look through scripture allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to our hearts. It’s time for us to pick up our bibles and seek the Lord. I promise, if we stay consistent, He will show us more than we could have imagined!
Ask the Holy Spirit for revelation.
John 16:13
“When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come.”
