Make it less Monday: diy marble tulip table top

“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”– Isaiah 64:8

If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a stunning marble-top tulip table but didn’t want to splurge on the real deal, this DIY project is for you!

so, I scored an IKEA Docksta tulip table from Facebook Marketplace for just $60 and gave it a high-end makeover using epoxy. Here’s how I did it!

The Find

The ikea Docksta table was in decent condition but had some wear and tear and a few holes to fill. Since I love a good DIY challenge, I knew epoxy could transform it into a sleek, marble-look piece.

The Process

I purchased this epoxy kit from Amazon here and followed step-by-step tutorials on YouTube, like this one, to learn the marble painting technique.

After cleaning and prepping the table, I:

  1. Mixed the epoxy according to the instructions.
  2. Poured and spread a base coat over the tabletop.
  3. Hand-painted marble veins using a fine brush and a heat gun to blend.
  4. Let it cure for the recommended time.

The Result

Now, my once-basic tulip table has a gorgeous, glossy marble finish that looks high-end without the hefty price tag. This project was easy, affordable, and totally worth the effort! I spent just under $100 for a $500+ look!
