Make It Less Monday: DIY Shoe Clips for a Vintage-Inspired Glow-Up
“She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet. She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.” Proverbs 31:21-22 (further reading)
I had an idea
💡 Idea: Dress up my black stilettos with a fun, removable accent.
You know that feeling when you have an event coming up, stare at your shoe collection, and think, Ugh, I don’t want to buy another pair of heels I’ll only wear once this year? Same. So instead of giving in to the temptation of new shoes, I got a little crafty and turned to vintage inspiration—shoe clips!
Back in the day, women would transform their shoes with these little clip-on embellishments, swapping out bows, rhinestones, or even pearls to match their outfit. I figured, why not bring that back? So, I made my own!

Here’s what I did:

🎨 Materials: Leather scraps, small hair clips (thank you, Hobby Lobby), a little fabric glue and some hot glue.
✂️ DIY: I crafted some simple leather bows, attached them to the clips, and voilà—my heels had a whole new look!
The best part? No need to commit to one style. I can swap them out for a different vibe next time. It’s the perfect way to elevate a pair of shoes without spending a dime on a new pair. And considering I wear heels maybe once a year, this little hack is a total win.

So if you’ve got an event coming up and want to refresh your shoes without a shopping trip, try making some DIY shoe clips! Vintage style, budget-friendly, and so easy to make.
